According to a friend of mine, who's brother in law is in the band Mucca Pazza, Rhymefest and Mucca Pazza will be playing a set TOGETHER at lolla 08.  Seriously, how sweet would this be?

That's two returning acts from previous years.  I can't say that I am too excited by repeat performances.

It strikes me the same way that the radio playing the same (soon to be popular) song over and over again to make it in to a "hit song".

Repeat acts, to me feel like programming.

I would be impressed if we had a year with no repeats from previous years.  There are more than enough great bands out there.

I have to disagree with you , RV. This sounds like a rare collaborative performance between 2 chicago-based (?) acts. Might be one you could chalk up to the "not performing at any other festival" category. I think that's pretty crucial when you consider how homogenized all these festivals are becoming.

Right! I'm so excited for this set if it really is happening.  If you've ever listened to Mucca Pazza, you'll know why this will be great.

Also, I don't have a problem with repeat acts for the most part.  Especially if they are local bands.

Well, I guess now is as good a time as any to start up the big list for 2008.

This could be a very interesting set. And this is coming from someone who's only barely listened to punk music and doesn't like much rap.

I'm definitely interested in this.

Where do you all see this playing? My guess is one of those 4 3:30 spots on either Friday or Saturday.

Rhymefest played at 4:30 on a street stage on Saturday when they played in 2007 and Mucca Pazza opened a side stage on Sunday in 2006. Given all that, I would think the collaboration would promote them to a later spot on the side stage, so 4:30 sounds about right if it's on the shoe stage or stalker stage-- preferably the Petrillo stage.

I'm certainly not an expert on the genre, but I assume this would sound something like the Roots, right?

Correction: they describe themselves as a "circus punk marching band"

While they're not technically punk in the traditional sense, their own website does bill them as "Astounding circus punk marching band" so I'm sure that's where people are getting that from.

Hey there fancypants
Play the songs that make us dance
Play the tunes that make the ladies swoon
A song for all the lonely hearts, shattered dreams and broken parts
Feels like sunny days are coming soon

That would be exactly where I got that from. I haven't heard any of their music since I checked them out when they were placed on the 2006 schedule, so I don't really remember their sound.
