Here's the truth to allegations that were printed in the Chicago Sun Times:
I have not given consent for Lollapalooza to take place anywhere else other
Chicago. I consider very carefully where Lolla will appear, and what my brand
represents. Our event has evolved to the highest quality of festival experience.
I have not thrown the name out there trying to maximize immediate dollar returns.
I have kept the music community together for 17 years. I surely don't approach our
community with anything other than nurturing. Lollapalooza is one of
the few solid institutions still remaining in music today. And it is
a community I am in love with. I would never pick on my patrons or the musicians. I look
for ways each year to bring us all back together. Last year we
created a carbon neutral festival.
It was because we cared for our patrons and the city of Chicago that we took the time and spent the money to make it happen.
This year will again have a fresh feeling; as the artists who are being selected to headline are contentious and inventive. The headline will
read "Your way might be your way but make way for the new way." I trust
that you will be there again with me.

By the way, if you could give us any indication of who these headliners are, that would be super :) Can not wait for 2008...Ohhhh that seems like something to put on a billboard.

Perry...

Call me crazy but I actually believe this is you. Thank you for taking the time out to explain this to us. If you've read around you've noticed that some of us take a little issue with some of your recent comments but I think we all do appreciate the product you've brought our city the last couple years.

That said...what do you mean when you say the headliners are "contentious." Does that mean they are bands that are going to argue with each other? And does it also mean that Radiohead is one of them? ??? C'mon...we're all loyal fans...throw us a bone!

Also...a friend of mine's claim to fame is dropping acid with you at Burning Man. Do you remember that?

No matter what anyone on this board says, I'm pretty sure everyone is really thankful for all you've done for us. Thanks.

If it really is Perry, he should be way more hands on or step the hell away. Just walking around the grounds and introducing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers as the greatest band in the world damages his credability.

Get amongst it man, use your influence be more than the face of Lolla. There is nothing wrong with making money and Lolla is a money making exercise, stop pretending its some figurehead of change.

“The scariest predicament we face in music is that commercialization has killed off the underground scene,” Farrell said. “It used to be at Lollapalooza that the audience was full of 20,000 freaks and miscreants and outcasts. But now people look like they walked out of the Gap."

I copied that from the Questions for Lolla Section.

How is indie today different from underground circa 1960-70s?  I think they are the same.

RADIOHEAD please.

That's an ignorant quote on his part. He wants to build a franchise and then take back the success? If you have more people coming, more people will have "walked out of the Gap." I personally don't think most of the people there look like that. I think everyone's too sweaty and tired to look like that.

It totally was Perry.

Unless Nick is lying to us for all the crap we've given him since Kevin left us.

And Perry if you truly love us, give us free tickets for next year.
